Spring Awakenings Children's Poetry Workshop
Play and experiment with poetry on the theme of 'Spring Awakenings'.
Writer & tutor Caroline Millar will lead this poetry workshop.
This workshop will be a fun opportunity for 6-10 year olds to play and experiment with poetry on the theme of 'Spring Awakenings.'
Based on ideas created by the Dadaists and famously used by David Bowie, we will experiment with cut-ups and word puzzles/acrostics (where the first letters of each line spell out a word) to create our own poems from random words and images.
We will also have a chance to discuss what poetry is, talk about where ideas come from, expand our vocabulary and find out why poems don’t always need to rhyme!
Each child will each receive and take home their own Writing Journal containing their own poems, notes, inspiration & drawings made during the session along with a ‘Poetry Tool Kit’ of inspirational poems, ideas and exercises for them to try out at home.
