It was my absolute pleasure to organise last week’s Global Climate Strike in Whitstable, Kent. Hundreds of school children joined the Global Climate Strike and protested alongside passionate adults to let world leaders & big business know their fears and demands.
During the protest we heard from passionate speakers @plasticfreewhitstable Mary-Jane from Buttercup, local teacher & keen environmentalist Mrs Ashton-Lovett, the Green Party, @orsted,Chris Cornell AND THE CHILDREN - young activists who wrote and gave passionate speeches.
My hope is that this day will spark a dialogue in Whitstable that will make a difference. At the protest l asked everyone to make a pledge- to make changes to their own lives to help eradicate climate change. Have you made a pledge? What will you change?
Big thanks also to Jo @theumbrellacafe & @planetbsocial for all their advice, encouragement and for donning yellow high vis vests! And @theseedyhoe for the use of her MEGAPHONE!!
BIG thanks to all the local Whitstable schools who support the protest all the way.
Thank you also to everyone who came to the protest and for all your kind words of encouragement and support.
Apologies if I have forgotten to tag or thank anyone else - it's been quite a week!
The second photograph is by the fabulously talented @samgradyphotography, a passionate father who would have attended the protest anyway but who also agreed to take photographs throughout. Thank you Sam, you truly captured the passion.
