The Importance of Creativity

Posted by Julie Bevan on

Creativity is important for everyone and it is particularly important for children.

Creativity is fun and whilst children create they also learn to problem-solve, innovate & experiment.

Creativity encourages self-expression.

Encouraging creativity in children increases self-esteem and motivation.

Creatives are often Divergent Thinkers; non-linear thinkers, able to find multiple solutions to a problem.

School teachers know this to be a formative important way to learn but worryingly so many schools are being pushed in the other direction via the curriculum.

Creativity comes in many forms; painting, singing, dance, music, writing, gardening, cookery, thought, speech... the list is endless...
