THE DOT KIDS ART METHOD IS AN INNOVATIVE APPROACH TO ART EDUCATION

Created by Arts & Mindset Educator and Dot Kids Founder, Julie Bevan.

Creative Exploration: Encouraging art as a form of self-expression without rigid emphasis on technical skills, allowing children to explore freely.

Embracing Creative Freedom: Providing a space where children can express themselves artistically without the pressure of mastering specific techniques.

Learning from "Mistakes": Teaching that in art, there are no mistakes, only opportunities to learn and grow, fostering a positive attitude toward experimentation.

Art as a Journey, Not Perfection: Emphasising that the artistic process is about exploration and discovery, not about achieving a flawless final product.

Encouraging Creative Risk-Taking: Promoting a culture where taking creative risks and trying new approaches is celebrated and encouraged.

Building Confidence through Experimentation & Discovery: Demonstrating that through experimentation and adaptation, children develop confidence in their artistic abilities.

Fostering a Growth Mindset: Instilling the belief that skills in art, like in life, can be developed through dedication, practice, and learning from experiences.

Creativity Over Precision: Emphasising the importance of creative thinking and imagination over precise technical skills in artistic expression.

Creating a Supportive Environment: Cultivating an atmosphere where children feel safe to explore their creativity, knowing that their ideas and attempts are valued.

Celebrating Artistic Journey: Encouraging children to appreciate their artistic evolution, valuing the progress and experimentation as much as the end result.

Well-being Through Creativity: Using artistic expression as a means to enhance mental and emotional well-being, fostering a sense of fulfilment and joy.

Confidence Building through Art: Providing a platform for children to explore their creativity, nurturing self-confidence as they see their unique creations take shape.

Self-Expression and Artistic Voice: Encouraging children to express themselves freely through various art forms, allowing them to communicate their thoughts and feelings creatively.

Art as Therapeutic Expression: Utilising art as a tool for self-reflection, allowing children to process emotions and experiences in a supportive and non-judgmental environment.

Mindfulness and Art Practices: Introducing mindfulness techniques through art, promoting focus, relaxation and a deeper connection with oneself.

Art as Empowerment: Showing children that their artistic expressions have value, empowering them to share their stories and viewpoints confidently.

Art as a Positive Outlet: Providing a constructive outlet for emotions and creativity, helping children manage stress and navigate challenges through artistic exploration.

Building Resilience through Art: Teaching children to embrace mistakes in art as part of the creative process, fostering resilience and adaptability.

Empowerment through Knowledge: Providing the emotional tools and knowledge that empower children to think critically and make informed choices.

Holistic Development: Focusing on the development of the whole child—cognitive, emotional, social and physical aspects.

Adaptability and Resilience: Teaching skills that help children adapt to change and develop resilience in the face of challenges.

Joyful Learning Experience: Creating a joyful and engaging learning environment that fosters curiosity and a love for learning.

THE DOT KIDS PAY IT FORWARD SCHEME

Inspiring and empowering children through creativity, mindset and discussion is the main aim of Dot Kids and we want to provide this opportunity to everyone.

In order to offer free places we have set up a ‘Pay It Forward’ system, to enable more children from low-income families to attend for free.

There are two ways to donate:

1. When a parent or carer books their child onto a Dot Kids workshop they can also choose to pay a donation towards a free place to a child from a low-income family.

2. Donation only. (see below). It can be as little as a pound, it all adds up and will accumulate to pay for children to attend workshops for free.
